چکیده
Mathew C. Abraham, Professor Rajeev J. Ram There exists a substantial expertise in making extremely precise point-to-point current and potential difference measurements, however, at present there is no technique available to image the flow of currents in devices. Below we report on a preliminary investigation into using a magnetic force microscope (MFM) as a tool to render current contrast images.

Introduction 1.1 Basic Concepts of Semiconductor Band and Bonding Diagrams
Semiconductor photonic devices such as laser diodes, light-emitting diodes, optical waveguides, directional couplers, electrooptic modulators, and photodetectors have important applications in lightwave technology systems. To understand the physics and the operational characteristics of these photonic devices, we have to understand the fundamental principles. In this chapter, we review some of ...
متن کاملImproving the Thermal Characteristics of Semiconductor Lasers Using a New Asymmetric Waveguide Structure
Self-heating leads to a temperature rise of the laser diode and limits the output power and efficiency due to increased loss and decreased differential gain. To control device self-heating, it is required to design the laser structure with a low optical loss, while the heat flux must spread out of the device efficiently. In this study, a new asymmetric waveguide design is proposed and th...
متن کاملControlling the Occurrence of Rogue Waves in an Optically Injected Semiconductor Laser via Changing The Injection Strength
The rouge waves in an optically injected semiconductor lasers are receiving a lot of interest. In this work, the generating and controlling of the rogue waves in semiconductor lasers have been investigated. For this purpose, the laser’s rate equations are solved numerically in a specified time interval, then the field amplitude and the intensity versus time are calculated and analyzed. To solve...

متن کاملTheoretical and Experimental Investigation of Quantum Dot Passively Mode Locked Lasers for Telecomm and Biomedical Applications
This thesis is focused on the experimental and theoretical study of novel quantum dot passively mode locked lasers. The motivation behind this endeavour was the fundamental need, of many scientific areas, for high power, ultra-short and time stabilized optical pulses, generated directly from highly integrated laser devices. Such devices could allow the study of ultra-fast chemical and physical ...
